Mendon

Welcome to Mendon

Mendon is a small, picturesque city with deep historical roots and a strong sense of community. Established in 1859 as the second settlement in Cache Valley, Mendon was named after Mendon, Massachusetts, and thoughtfully positioned to take advantage of the region’s fertile land, abundant water, and favorable climate. The city is set within a natural amphitheater created by the Wasatch Range, offering breathtaking mountain views and a serene atmosphere. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to explore, including the Mendon Peak Trail, a challenging 6.5-mile hike that rewards with sweeping panoramic vistas of the valley.
One of Mendon’s most cherished landmarks is the Mendon Station, built in 1916 as a depot for the Utah-Idaho Central Railroad. Today, this beautifully restored building serves as a vibrant community gathering space, hosting everything from weddings and reunions to public meetings, dance classes, and local events. Mendon’s calendar is filled with beloved traditions. The 24th of July celebration spans a full week, bringing the community together for parades, games, and festivities. Even more historic is May Day, which has been celebrated continuously since 1863—making it the oldest event of its kind in the United States. These traditions reflect the deep bonds and pride that Mendon residents share.
Known by many as the softball capital of Cache Valley, Mendon hosts spirited games that draw local crowds—not to mention the famous burgers served at the concession stand. Whether you're here for the stunning scenery, outdoor recreation, or tight-knit community vibe, Mendon offers a peaceful and welcoming way of life.
